THE MANUAL TO GIVING THANKS
I love kids. Not in a creepy way.
As I
wrote in my tumblr before, I used to be a very inexpressive kid. That is most
probably why I love kids; I just love how expressive they are! To understand
what I mean, Google videos or pictures of babies and you will not found one
expressionless. They smile and laugh when you make them happy, they cry and sob
when you make them sad, as natural as that!
However,
as we grow up we found that those natural qualities are only for kids,
especially babies. We found out during an accident in our playtime that we need
to brush off the dust and man up. We found out during kindergarten class that
we need to stop crying when our parents are dropping us at school. We found out
a need to grow up, a need to stop converting our emotions into expressions as
easy as we used to.
Nothing
is wrong with that. That is a sign of a person growing up. Maturing. The bible
has a say about it as well in 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
“Give
thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
The verse tells us to do one thing in every circumstance,
which is to give thanks! It definitely includes hard circumstances. No doubt it
is easy to give thanks when everything is good, but can we still give thanks
when problem comes? Or will we just act like immature Christians, resenting and
blaming God during tough times?
That verse is the ultimate manual to giving thanks!
A biblical example is the story of King Jehoshaphat from 2 Chronicles 20:21-23. While his kingdom was going to be attacked by enemies, he calmed the citizens by telling them to trust in the Lord! Not only that, he appointed men to sing and give praise to the Lord! The result of their thankfulness was shown on verse 22:
“As
they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon
and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”
Turns out the outnumbered troops of King Jehoshaphat went to the battle zone without having to fight at all because his enemies were destroying one another!
Doesn't matter how bad circumstances are in your life, understand
that God reacts immediately to THANKFULNESS. The bible said as they began to sing, God reacted! I
believe as you begin to sing praises filled with thankfulness to the Lord, God
reacts and take the battle for you!
It is true that controlling our temper and maturing up are
hard things to do. That is why people envy babies and kids all the time! But
when we understand that God is fighting on our side, being thankful is the best
thing we can ever have in life!
So today you know God has a will for you! He wants you to be
living the best life possible and that life is achievable by being thankful.
Start achieving His will for you today!
