PASSION FUELED EDUCATORS - THE STORY OF IBU PUJI

Ibu Puji is a kindergarten school teacher by day, a bachelor candidate student by night. She is working hard on her thesis, providing food on the table for her husband and son while at the same time providing education for 32 kids at a kindergarten school in Tanah Abang.

Tanah Abang has also been her home for the past few years. As I followed her for a quick tour around Tanah Abang, she pointed to a small room and said, "I live in that room. Not a house, just a room."

Life in Tanah Abang is not easy, but at least kindergarten education is free. Parents only need to pay Rp 8.000,- every month for the school to provide writing books for the kids. However, with free education, comes volunteer teachers and Ibu Puji is one of them.

Ibu Puji and a few other teachers works under minimum salary everyday in a single classroom with no air conditioner and a few damaged whiteboards. With all of these lack of facilities, they managed to light themselves up with enough passion to build educated dreamers of the future.

After all, maybe passion is the best fuel after all.
